Spanish airline Iberia <\/strong>is strengthening its commitment to the United States by resuming its flights to Washington DC, deploying the new Airbus A321XLR for the route. As a pioneer in operating this aircraft, the airline is increasing frequencies and ensuring year-round service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inaugural flight will depart from Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Madrid-Barajas Airport on Saturday, April 12, at 11:50 AM, landing at Washington-Dulles at 3:00 PM (local time). This destination becomes the second long-haul route operated with the A321XLR, following Boston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Increased Frequencies and Capacity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, Iberia offered four weekly flights between Madrid and Washington. With the introduction of the A321XLR, the airline will expand to six weekly flights from April to August, rising to a daily service in September and October. This growth reflects rising demand and Iberia\u2019s strategy to consolidate its presence in the U.S. market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the summer 2025 season, Iberia will operate 140 weekly flights between the two countries, marking a 14% increase compared to the previous year, with a total capacity of 1.1 million seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expansion in Boston and Washington<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Washington DC and Boston will see the most significant growth this summer. Washington\u2019s frequencies will rise from 4 to 7 weekly flights, while Boston will double its connectivity with two daily flights starting in June. Both routes will be operated with the new A321XLR, reinforcing Iberia\u2019s operational flexibility in the North Atlantic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
