Icelandair<\/strong> is bolstering its winter schedule with the launch of flights to Edinburgh and Malaga, two key additions that complement the previously announced destinations of Istanbul and Miami. Operations to Edinburgh will begin on September 12, 2025, and run until April 12, 2026, with a frequency of three to four weekly flights. For Malaga, flights will start on September 6 and continue until May 30, operating one to two times per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The choice of these destinations is no coincidence. Edinburgh, one of the most visited cities in Northern Europe, is renowned for its architectural beauty and vibrant history. The Scottish capital also marks a historic milestone for Icelandair: it has been 80 years since the airline\u2019s first international flight, which connected Iceland and Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Malaga offers a completely different winter appeal. With its warm climate, sunny beaches, and cultural richness, it stands as an ideal option for travelers looking to escape the cold without straying too far from Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global Connectivity and Enhanced Operational Efficiency<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The flight schedules to Edinburgh are designed to facilitate seamless connections with Icelandair\u2019s international network, optimizing the passenger experience. The airline has also increased flight frequencies to other popular destinations such as Alicante, Barcelona, and Brussels, demonstrating a clear commitment to strengthening its presence in continental Europe during the winter season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the success of the Nashville route has led to its extension until January, while flights to Hamburg will remain active until October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bogi Nils Bogason, President and CEO of Icelandair, emphasized the importance of this expansion: \u201cWe are thrilled to expand our winter destination offerings with flights to Malaga and Edinburgh. Adding the Scottish capital this year is especially symbolic, as it marks the 80th anniversary of our first international flight. For the first time in our history, we are announcing four new destinations during the winter season, aligning with our strategy to grow beyond the peak summer period.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The executive also highlighted that the incorporation of newer, more efficient aircraft has been pivotal to this expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
