The Indian airline IndiGo<\/strong> has just signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus<\/strong>, marking a turning point in its international expansion strategy. The company will double its order for wide-body A350-900 <\/strong>aircraft, increasing from 30 to 60 units, by converting part of its purchase rights into a firm order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This decision solidifies the airline\u2019s long-term plans to become a key player in the long-haul market, a move that reflects its ambitious vision in one of the most competitive sectors of air transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Commitment to Action: The Fleet Plan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In April 2024, IndiGo took its first major step into the wide-body segment with an initial order for 30 Airbus A350-900s, along with purchase rights for an additional 70 units. This latest expansion means that 30 of those options have now been converted into firm purchase commitments, bringing the total confirmed order to 60 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deliveries for the original order are scheduled to begin in 2027, marking a gradual transition toward a business model with a greater international reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
