LATAM Airlines <\/strong>continues to strengthen its international presence by announcing on Wednesday that it will offer daily flights between Santiago, Chile, and two major Australian cities, Sydney and Melbourne, facilitating travel for thousands of passengers between South America and Oceania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Increased Frequencies: From 3 to 7 Weekly Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Starting in November 2025 through March 2026, the Santiago-Sydney route will double its frequency, increasing from three to seven weekly flights. This change will allow the airline to transport up to 4,100 passengers per week. The operations will be carried out using state-of-the-art Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, the Melbourne route will also increase its frequency from three to seven weekly flights from December 2025 to March 2026. This connection will be operated with Boeing 787-9 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 150,000 Passengers Between Continents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With this new offering, LATAM projects it will transport approximately 150,000 passengers during the mentioned period. This will not only improve connectivity between Chile and Australia but will also benefit travelers from other South American countries such as Brazil, Peru, Argentina, and Uruguay, who can now reach Oceania in less than 15 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The daily flights between Chile and Australia will enable the transport of around 150,000 passengers during this period, connecting both continents quickly and safely. Currently, LATAM Airlines Group operates direct flights between Santiago and Melbourne, setting a precedent in aviation history,” said Mar\u00eda Paz Villasante, Commercial Strategy Manager of the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustained Growth in Capacity and Traffic<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alongside this international expansion, LATAM reported a 7.2% growth in consolidated capacity during May 2025 compared to the same month the previous year. This increase, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK), was driven primarily by the strong performance of the Brazilian domestic market, which grew by 13%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passenger traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), also rose by 9.6%. As a result, the consolidated load factor reached 83.1%, representing an increase of 1.8 percentage points compared to May 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, LATAM Airlines operates flights to 153 destinations in 27 countries across four continents: the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. With this new phase of daily flights to Australia, the group reinforces its role as a bridge between South America and the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
