Silver Airways<\/strong>, a regional airline based in Hollywood, Florida, announced this Wednesday the permanent cessation of its operations after failing to achieve a successful restructuring under Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. The decision left numerous passengers stranded at airports in Florida, the Bahamas, and other Caribbean destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clear Message to Passengers: “Do Not Go to the Airport”<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Through a statement on its official website, Silver Airways warned customers not to go to the airports, confirming the complete cancellation of its flights. “Please do not go to the airport,” reads the brief yet firm message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company also reported that its assets were sold through the bankruptcy court process to a holding company that, after the acquisition, decided not to continue air operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immediate Impact on Passengers and Employees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The shutdown affects routes to five cities in Florida and eleven island destinations. The airline stated that passengers who purchased tickets can request refunds directly through their credit card issuers or travel agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, an internal email sent to employees by Silver Airways’ CEO confirmed that most of the remaining 348 workers\u2014including pilots, flight attendants, and ground staff\u2014will lose their jobs. The company had already reduced its workforce from the original 608 employees and was operating with only eight ATR aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2011, Silver Airways once flew to 28 destinations at its peak. However, in recent years, it faced a progressive reduction in its network and fleet, culminating in the critical financial situation that now marks the end of its operational history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Happens to Seaborne Airlines?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Despite the collapse of Silver Airways, its subsidiary Seaborne Airlines, based in Puerto Rico, will continue providing services in the Caribbean. This branch of the company maintains independent operations and will not be affected by the shutdown of its parent company in Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
