Delta Air Lines<\/strong> is taking a bold step in its strategy to strengthen its presence on the U.S. West Coast with the announcement of two new nonstop routes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX): Hong Kong and Chicago O’Hare<\/strong>. Starting June 6, 2026, the airline will launch daily service to Hong Kong, followed by three daily flights to Chicago beginning June 7. This expansion solidifies LAX as a key hub for both international and domestic air traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe launch of these new destinations reinforces our position in two of the world\u2019s most dynamic markets,\u201d said Paul Baldoni, Delta\u2019s Senior Vice President of Network Planning. \u201cAs the largest global carrier at LAX, we continue to invest in routes that matter to our customers, delivering a premium experience that meets their expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hong Kong: Direct Access to Asia and a Logistics Boost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hong Kong stands as a premier destination for travelers seeking urban, culinary, and cultural experiences. With its blend of modern architecture, historic temples, and vibrant markets, the city is a high-value international gateway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new route will be operated by an Airbus A350-900, capable of carrying over 20 tons of cargo per flight, significantly enhancing Delta Cargo\u2019s transpacific network. This connectivity benefits the transport of electronics, e-commerce goods, and perishable products, strengthening supply chains between Asia and North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, this route bolsters Delta\u2019s Joint Venture with Korean Air, expanding coverage and options for passengers traveling across the Pacific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three Daily Frequencies to Chicago: Efficiency for Business and Leisure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new Chicago route links two of the nation\u2019s pivotal hubs: Los Angeles, the epicenter of entertainment and technology, and Chicago, a key player in manufacturing, insurance, and finance. Flight schedules are designed for both corporate and leisure travelers, with seamless connections to other Delta routes from the West Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comfort from the Start: A Premium Ground Experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Travelers departing LAX for either destination will enjoy modern and efficient facilities. Delta One passengers bound for Hong Kong can experience the new Delta One Lounge, accommodating nearly 200 guests, featuring a rotating chef-curated menu, a year-round sushi bar, a wellness area with massage chairs, and a design inspired by California\u2019s essence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Delta One Check-in service ensures a personalized experience from airport arrival to boarding. In Chicago, eligible passengers will have access to the Delta Sky Club in Terminal 5, a 22,000-square-foot space part of a $50 million investment to modernize the terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onboard: Technology, Comfort, and Quality Service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Hong Kong flight will be operated with the A350-900, offering four classes: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin. Delta One features lie-flat seats, premium bedding, and a four-course meal. Premium Select provides wider seats, deeper recline, and enhanced amenity kits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flights to Chicago will use the Boeing 737-800, with Delta First, Comfort+, and Main Cabin cabins, all equipped with seatback entertainment, complimentary Wi-Fi for SkyMiles members, and power outlets at every seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All passengers can enjoy Delta Studio, offering over 1,000 hours of onboard content at no additional cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Than Flights: Delta\u2019s Commitment to Los Angeles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Delta not only leads the market at LAX with over 160 daily flights to 50 destinations but is also redefining the airport experience through a $2.3 billion investment. The renovation includes the Sky Way and Terminal 3, featuring 27 gates, a centralized lobby, expanded security checkpoints, and an award-winning Sky Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With more than 5,000 employees at LAX, Delta partners with over 20 local organizations and supports more than 30 NGOs in California, focusing on education, workforce development, sustainability, and food security. The airline also sponsors the Lakers and is a founding partner of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games, serving as the official airline of Team USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
