Cathay Pacific<\/strong> has announced a new order for 14 Boeing 777-9 <\/strong>aircraft, expanding its total portfolio to 35 units of this model, the world\u2019s largest twin-engine jet. This decision reinforces the airline\u2019s commitment to operational efficiency, sustainability, and strengthening its international network from Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Technological Leap: Lower Emissions, Less Noise, Greater Range<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Boeing 777-9 is designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by an average of 20%, while cutting noise by 40% compared to the models it replaces. With a range of 7,295 nautical miles (13,510 km), it will enable Cathay to connect Hong Kong directly to key long-haul and ultra-long-haul destinations, optimizing non-stop routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ronald Lam, CEO of the Cathay Group, emphasized that this acquisition represents a critical step in the airline\u2019s fleet expansion and modernization. “It will allow us to continue our rich history of connecting the world through our Hong Kong hub. We aspire to become the world\u2019s leading premium airline,” Lam stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cathay has been a key operator of the 777 family for three decades, and the addition of the 777-9 will help reduce operational costs while expanding both passenger and cargo capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brad McMullen, Boeing\u2019s Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, highlighted the strategic partnership with Cathay. “We are proud to support Cathay Pacific\u2019s continued leadership as one of the world\u2019s top airlines. The 777-9 will be their flagship of the future, offering unparalleled comfort, connectivity, and efficiency,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 550 units of the 777X family have been ordered by customers worldwide, reflecting global confidence in this model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
