WestJet <\/strong>has announced a significant investment to transform the interior of its aircraft, incorporating a new cabin design and amenities aimed at delivering a consistent experience across its entire fleet. This modernization introduces Premium seats on aircraft that previously only had economy class and significantly expands the popular Extended Comfort section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new cabin ambiance will be characterized by a bright atmosphere, featuring seats with an updated design, adjustable headrests, and improved cushions offering greater support. In economy class, a fixed recline system will be implemented, designed to maintain personal space between travelers. Additionally, individual power outlets, device holders, and a reconfiguration of lavatories and service areas will be added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Samantha Taylor, Executive Vice President and Chief Experience Officer at WestJet, stated: “The cabin has been carefully designed to deliver our welcoming service across all fare levels. It reflects our commitment to elevating every aspect of the journey and responding to the demand for a wider range of products.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Premium and Extended Comfort: More Space and Options<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The renovated Premium cabin will include 12 seats inspired by the 787-9 Dreamliner fleet, featuring ergonomic cushions, reclining seatbacks, and headrests adjustable to four positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the economy section, the Extended Comfort area will feature 36 seats with extra legroom, located behind the Premium cabin and separated by a divider. For those seeking maximum space, the emergency exit row seats will remain available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Standard economy class will offer differentiated options, from rear rows with less space to more comfortable front-row seats. These new models incorporate ergonomic contours in the seatback and base to optimize comfort during the flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Alternatives for Every Budget<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The redesign follows the airline’s strategy of offering greater fare segmentation and more choices to Canadians. Thanks to ultra-slim seats, an additional row has been incorporated compared to the previous design, reducing the cost per seat and maintaining competitive fares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor emphasized: “WestJet has always been a pioneer in making air travel accessible to Canadians. The new design caters to the different preferences of our customers, whether they choose Premium with more comforts or more economical tickets with less space.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collaborative Selection and Cabin Testing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In January 2023, members of the WestJet Rewards program and employees participated in selecting the new seats, testing and evaluating their comfort. A full-scale prototype was tested in the summer of 2025, and the feedback obtained was used to refine the implementation, staff training, and preparation for the launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connectivity in the Skies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This renovation is complemented by the installation of WestJet Wi-Fi presented by TELUS, a high-speed, low-latency internet service that offers passengers the same browsing quality as on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access will be free for WestJet Rewards members, allowing for uninterrupted content streaming, working, gaming, and online shopping. The installation is underway and will be available across the entire fleet of Boeing 737-800 and MAX-8 aircraft before the end of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
