The airline offers charging points on all its aircraft but insists that travelers must bring their devices fully charged, especially on long-haul journeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the Measure Means for Passengers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A power bank is a portable, rechargeable device designed to supply power to electronic gadgets such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, or cameras. Although customers will still be allowed to carry one, the airline establishes clear conditions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Only one unit with a capacity of less than 100 Wh is permitted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It will not be authorized for charging devices during the flight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It cannot be recharged using the aircraft&#8217;s power supply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Each battery must clearly display its rated capacity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They cannot be stored in the overhead compartments; they must be placed in the seat pocket or in a bag under the seat in front.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As is currently the case, they are not allowed in checked baggage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2025\/09\/emirates-skywards-celebrates-25-years-with-prizes-and-a-commemorative-aircraft.html\">Emirates Skywards Celebrates 25 Years with Prizes and a Commemorative Aircraft<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Emirates is Restricting Power Banks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision comes after a comprehensive safety review. The growing use of these portable batteries has led to an increase in lithium-related incidents in the aviation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These units often contain lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries, which operate through the flow of ions in an electrolyte solution between two electrodes. When overcharged or damaged, they can experience thermal runaway: a process where heat generation exceeds dissipation capacity, causing a rapid and uncontrollable temperature increase. Potential consequences include fires, explosions, and the release of toxic gases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While devices like phones have internal systems to prevent overcharging, many basic power banks lack this protection, increasing the risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safety and Prevention: Pillars of the Airline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The new regulation aims to significantly minimize the risks associated with these batteries by prohibiting their use during the flight and ensuring they are kept in accessible areas of the cabin. This will allow the crew to act quickly in case of an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emirates underlines that safety is one of its fundamental values and that it will continue reinforcing its practices to
