JetBlue <\/strong>has unveiled “Isla del Bluencanto,”<\/strong> a new special livery that will adorn one of its Airbus A320 aircraft. The artwork, created by Puerto Rican artist Juan Guti\u00e9rrez Rovira, known as The Stencil Network, was selected by public vote in March and aims to reflect the island’s cultural richness through iconic symbols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name combines Puerto Rico’s affectionate nickname, “Isla del Encanto,” with the airline’s name, reinforcing the bond between the company and the destination. The reveal took place at The Flight Park at Luis Mu\u00f1oz Mar\u00edn Airport, where community members, local authorities, and JetBlue employees participated in the celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JetBlue President Marty St. George highlighted the more than 20-year relationship between JetBlue and the island: “Puerto Rico has been a fundamental part of our history since we began operations in 2002. ‘Isla del Bluencanto’ celebrates the culture, history, and people of Puerto Rico. With this aircraft, we carry a piece of the island to every destination, inspiring more travelers to discover this unique place.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For her part, the island’s Governor, Jenniffer Gonz\u00e1lez-Col\u00f3n, thanked the airline for the initiative, noting that it strengthens tourism and contributes to economic development: “This project highlights Puerto Rico’s importance within the United States and showcases the determination of our people.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Isla del Bluencanto” is not just a paint scheme, but a cultural manifesto in motion. Among the most prominent elements are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The J\u00edbaro on the Tail<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A central figure in the composition, it represents the rural heritage, nobility, and resilience of the people. He is depicted with his harvest, evoking values of unity and perseverance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tropical Fruits and Flora<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fuselage incorporates colorful illustrations of typical fruits and native flora, conveying the island’s vitality and biodiversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Somos Boricua” on the Belly of the Aircraft<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A powerful phrase declaring identity and pride, accompanied by the Puerto Rican flag, visible from the ground whenever the aircraft flies overhead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artist’s Vision<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The creator of the work, Juan Guti\u00e9rrez Rovira, described the project as a unique opportunity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Designing ‘Isla del Bluencanto’ has been an honor. The j\u00edbaro, the fruits, and the flowers reflect our culture and pride. By including the phrase ‘Somos Boricua’ on the belly of the plane, I sought to leave no doubt about who we are or where we come from. My wish is for this aircraft to become a living symbol of Puerto Rico.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
