Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) <\/strong>announced on Monday the expansion of its commercial agreement with Virgin Atlantic<\/strong>, a decision that strengthens its international network and improves connection options for travelers using London-Heathrow as a hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Destinations via London-Heathrow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Under the new agreement, SAS will place its code on selected Virgin Atlantic flights departing from the London airport to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Dubai, and Mal\u00e9 (Maldives).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAS passengers will be able to book these routes directly through the airline’s usual channels, accessing convenient schedules and a seamless connection process. Furthermore, more destinations are expected to be added soon under this expanded cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Strategic Move to Strengthen International Offerings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer of SAS, emphasized that this expansion of the agreement “strengthens the company’s offerings for both business and leisure travelers, by opening up more alternatives to popular destinations.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that “by including our code on Virgin Atlantic flights, we make it easier for our customers to have a smooth connection via London-Heathrow and a more comfortable travel experience.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joint Commitment within SkyTeam<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Juha Jarvinen, Chief Commercial Officer of Virgin Atlantic, stated that the expansion of this collaboration demonstrates the “ongoing commitment of both airlines within SkyTeam,” allowing more passengers to enjoy seamless connections to iconic destinations such as Dubai, the Maldives, and South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jarvinen also highlighted that travelers will be able to enjoy “the premium experience that characterizes Virgin Atlantic.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Implementation Details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The agreement between SAS and Virgin Atlantic originated in October 2024 under a bilateral codeshare scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new phase of the cooperation takes effect with bookings available from October 6 and travel starting from October 8, thereby consolidating a more robust and accessible long-haul network for customers of both airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
