Abra Group<\/strong>, holding company that controls airlines Avianca and GOL, announced this Thursday a significant update to its fleet plan aimed at expanding its route network and strengthening medium- and long-haul connectivity within the Americas and to Europe. The company has signed lease agreements with Avolon for up to seven Airbus A330neo aircraft. These units can be operated by the Group\u2019s airlines according to market-driven operational and financial opportunities at the time of their integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These aircraft stand out for their next-generation efficiency and enhanced passenger experience. The A330neo reduces fuel consumption per seat by 14% compared to the A330ceo model and cuts noise pollution at airports by up to 60%, thanks to its new-generation engines and optimized design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reinforcement of the Narrow-Body Fleet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the wide-body aircraft, Abra Group has consolidated its position in the single-aisle aircraft segment. To the 88 Airbus A320neo family aircraft and 96 Boeing 737 MAX already committed, a further 50 A320 aircraft are being added, bringing the total to 138 units of the model, which will be delivered progressively until 2032.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first A320neo with an Airspace cabin from this new order will arrive at the end of 2025 and will be incorporated into Avianca’s fleet. This model offers a superior travel experience, with XL bins that provide 60% more space for carry-on luggage and a dynamic LED lighting system adaptable to each phase of the flight. Furthermore, it will include three rows of Premium seats designed by Recaro exclusively for Avianca, in a two-by-side configuration, a unique product in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Fleet of Over 230 Aircraft in Coming Years<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With this addition, Abra Group will reach a total portfolio of 234 narrow-body aircraft, including the previous Boeing 737 MAX orders, to be delivered by 2030. This growth reinforces the group’s capacity to meet the demand of millions of passengers across the American continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Abra, emphasized: “This announcement confirms that we continue to make the necessary investments aligned with our commitment to providing increasing air travel access to millions of people, solidifying our position as one of the largest and most competitive air transport groups in Latin America. Our incremental A320neo order secures the replacement and growth needs of our current narrow-body fleet. Likewise, we are reinforcing our international growth strategy to connect Latin America more and better, both within itself and with the world, through a more efficient fleet.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Beno\u00eet de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, stated: “We are proud that Abra Group has selected Airbus’s iconic aircraft \u2013 the A350, the A330neo, and the A320neo \u2013 as key pieces of its fleet expansion strategy, which further strengthens our strategic cooperation. The choice of the A350, driven by its superior performance and economic efficiency, reaffirms its undisputed leadership in long-haul operations. The A330neo, in turn, is a top-tier, new-generation complement to Abra Group’s current A330 operation. We are also excited that, in the near future, passengers will be able to enjoy the Airbus Airspace cabin on Avianca’s A320neo, which offers unmatched comfort.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking to Future: A350 and Sustained Growth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The leasing of the A330neos and the confirmation of the 50 additional A320neos add to the previous announcement of five Airbus A350-900s, which will join the group’s fleet in the coming years. With these investments, Abra reinforces its position as one of the most significant players in Latin American air transport, betting on a modern, efficient, and sustainable fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
