The Spanish airline Volotea <\/strong>will launch its first international route from Granada, with Nantes (France) <\/strong>as the destination. This new direct link will begin operations on December 18, 2025, with two weekly frequencies\u2014on Mondays and Thursdays\u2014between Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca Granada-Ja\u00e9n Airport and Nantes Atlantique Airport, one of the company’s main operational bases on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Strategic Agreement to Boost Air Connectivity for Granada<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The opening of this route is the result of an agreement reached between Volotea and the Granada Provincial Council, through the Provincial Tourism Board, which launched a public tender aimed at attracting new national and international air connections for the Granada airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this first phase, the airline will offer 38 flights and more than 6,000 seats. Subsequently, in a second phase scheduled for February 2026, an additional 124 flights will be added, thereby consolidating Volotea’s presence in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this addition, Volotea will operate three routes from Granada: Asturias, Santander, and Nantes, expanding its network of destinations and strengthening Andalusia’s connectivity with the rest of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Firm Commitment to Andalusian Tourist and Economic Development<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Volotea’s Chief Strategy Officer, Gabriel Schmilovich, highlighted the significance of this new connection: “The launch of our Nantes route marks a very special milestone, as it is Volotea’s first international route from Granada. With this launch, we reinforce our commitment to the city, expanding its international connectivity and bringing it closer to the rest of Europe. At the same time, we reaffirm our commitment to Andalusia, a region full of opportunities where we want to continue contributing to its tourist and economic development.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, the President of the Granada Provincial Council, Francis Rodriguez, emphasized the economic and institutional effort made to attract new air routes and highlighted the importance of the French market for the province:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“France is Granada’s number one international customer, with 141,000 tourists staying in hotels in 2024, accounting for 12.5% of all foreign travelers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the new connection between Granada and Nantes, Volotea will operate more than 20 routes throughout Andalusia, consolidating its role as one of the most active airlines in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the company also operates from Seville, Malaga, and Jerez de la Frontera, strengthening the air network in southern Spain and contributing to the territory’s tourist and economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
