Icelandair <\/strong>has announced the addition of Faro, Portugal<\/strong>, to its destination network, with flights commencing on March 26, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially, flights between Reykjavik and the capital of the Algarve region will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, until May 11. Starting May 16, the frequency will change to a weekly operation, every Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Icelandair’s subsidiary, VITA, already offered holiday packages to Faro, but this new connection expands the offering, particularly highlighting golf-focused travel, one of the region’s main attractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strengthening Routes to Southern Europe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the launch of Faro, the Icelandic airline has increased flight frequency to several popular Southern European destinations, such as Tenerife, Las Palmas, Alicante, and Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Services have also been expanded to key cities on the continent, including Copenhagen and Paris, enhancing connectivity from Iceland to major European markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Icelandair CEO, Bogi Nils Bogason, explained that this growth responds to a clear trend: “We are seeing strong demand for destinations in Southern Europe and we want to ensure that Icelandic travelers and our international visitors have diverse and convenient connections. Faro is an exciting destination that many Icelanders are already familiar with, and we are pleased to offer flights there starting next spring. With this addition and the increased frequency to other popular destinations, we are strengthening our network and expanding our offering to sunny destinations.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the inclusion of Faro and the expansion of routes to Southern Europe, Icelandair solidifies its growth strategy and enhances its position as one of the most active airlines connecting Iceland with major European tourist destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
