With an in-flight party and an atmosphere charged with emotion, German airline Condor <\/strong>officially closed the chapter on the Boeing 757<\/strong> in its fleet. The event took place this Wednesday with a special round-trip flight between Frankfurt and Vienna, marking the definitive farewell to the last example of this model in commercial operation in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 300 guests\u2014including employees, aviation enthusiasts, and figures from the political and business spheres\u2014gathered at Vienna Airport to pay tribute to this aircraft that for decades was synonymous with leisure travel for the German airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Last Flight” and the World’s Highest Party<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The return journey from Vienna to Frankfurt was the setting for what Condor called “the world’s highest party.” Onboard, a festive and nostalgic atmosphere prevailed, where employees and fans of the Boeing 757 celebrated the end of an era and the beginning of a new stage with a fleet composed exclusively of Airbus aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Schmitt, Condor’s Chief Operations Officer, emphasized: “The Boeing 757 was the symbol of holiday travel for the airline for decades. With its retirement, a new fleet era begins for the company. Our modern Airbus aircraft are quieter, more efficient, and more economical, and they represent the future of our airline.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The choice of Vienna as the destination for the commemorative flight was not accidental. According to Peter Gerber, CEO of Condor, this city reflects the growing relevance of new European destinations in the airline’s route network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 35-Year Legacy in the Skies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The history between Condor and the Boeing 757 began in 1990 with an inaugural flight between Frankfurt and Antalya. Since then, the airline operated a total of 33 units of the 757-200 and 757-300 variants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Boeing 757-300, the stretched version of the 757-200, was especially appreciated by both staff and passengers. Of the 55 units of this model manufactured worldwide, approximately a quarter flew under Condor’s colors, a fact that underlines its relevance in the industry. At over 54 meters in length, these “flying pencils” not only impressed with their technical design but also became photographic icons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Farewell with a Sustainable Vision<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of the 757’s last flight, Condor also purchased an additional quantity of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) equivalent to a 50% blend for this final flight, distributing it within its route network. This proportion represents the maximum currently allowed under international certification standards, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to more sustainable aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The farewell to the Boeing 757-300 not only marks the end of an era but also the start of a new phase focused on efficiency, sustainability, and strategic expansion in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
