At the Dubai Airshow 2025, Emirates and Rolls-Royce<\/strong> signed a Memorandum of Understanding that marks a milestone in aviation maintenance management. Starting in 2027, the airline will directly perform Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) tasks on the Trent 900 engines that power its own fleet of Airbus A380 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This strategic step includes the construction of a new specialized facility, with the first engine induction scheduled for that same year. At this facility, Emirates will handle repairs of the fan casings, while Rolls-Royce will retain the module repair capability within its global network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expansion of the TotalCare Agreement until the 2040s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As part of the strengthening of this partnership, Emirates has extended the TotalCare service agreement with Rolls-Royce for its A380s well into the 2040s. This commitment guarantees continuous technical support and reinforces the mutual trust between the two companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahmed Safa, Head of Engineering and MRO at Emirates, emphasized: “With Emirates’ plans to continue operating our Airbus A380 fleet into the 2040s, we wanted to secure our own engine maintenance capabilities. We are pleased to sign this agreement with Rolls-Royce which takes our collaboration further. We will work closely with their team to incorporate the latest MRO capabilities into our facilities as part of the expansion of the Emirates Engineering Maintenance Centre (EEMC). This is another valuable contribution to the growth of Dubai’s aerospace sector.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rolls-Royce Strengthens its Global Maintenance Network<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Paul Keenan, Director of Commercial Aviation Aftermarket Operations at Rolls-Royce, stated: “Today’s announcement marks another milestone on our path to significantly increase our MRO capacity and global coverage by 2030. Our network combines owned facilities, joint ventures, and strategic collaborations with industry partners. We are pleased to welcome Emirates to this network ahead of the opening of their new facility in 2027.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This agreement not only expands the maintenance capacity within the Rolls-Royce ecosystem but also reaffirms its commitment to delivering world-class products and services globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates: World Leader in A380 Operations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Emirates continues to be the largest operator of the Airbus A380, the largest commercial aircraft in service. With 116 units in its fleet, the onboard experience on these aircraft remains highly valued by travelers worldwide, thanks to its unmatched comfort and exclusive cabin features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
