The expansion adds 2,245 m\u00b2 of infrastructure, resulting from the complete conversion of the old terrace into a pre-boarding space equipped with updated systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, driven by the National Directorate of Civil Aviation (DINAC), constitutes the largest intervention in years on the airport infrastructure of Asunci\u00f3n. &#8220;We are not simply inaugurating a project; we are affirming a vision,&#8221; expressed the President of DINAC, Nelson Mendoza, during the official ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Santiago Pe\u00f1a also participated in the ceremony and highlighted that this expansion is only &#8220;one part of the projects&#8221; planned for the airport. &#8220;We want passengers to enter quickly, board the plane, and leave as quickly as possible. That is technology, that is investment, that is the commitment of the officials,&#8221; he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sustained Growth and Historic Passenger Record<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The inauguration coincides with a period of strong expansion in air travel demand. DINAC projects closing December with a historic record of 1,300,000 passengers in one year, a figure driven by increased flight frequencies and the hosting of major regional events, such as the Copa Sudamericana final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2025\/11\/cordoba-to-modernize-its-airport-with-strategic-investment-doubling-operational-capacity.html\">C\u00f3rdoba to Modernize Its Airport with Strategic Investment, Doubling Operational Capacity<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reinforced Security and Expanded Migrations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AVSEC Security: Capacity Quadrupled<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Previous area: 230 m\u00b2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>New area: 880 m\u00b2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Queue capacity: from 30 to 120 passengers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Control checkpoints: from 2 to 4, with high-tech X-ray machines and an automatic tray return system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This improvement allows for handling demand peaks without saturation, especially on days with sporting events and higher international traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Migrations: Space Tripled<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Previous area: 135 m\u00b2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>New area: 500 m\u00b2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Double positions: 5 (equivalent to 10 stations)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Waiting capacity: from 25 to 100 people<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The expansion eliminates the typical congestion of the early morning hours and speeds up the transit of passengers on international connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Comprehensive Redesign of Passenger Flow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>DINAC reported that the old pre-boarding access has been permanently closed, centralizing all flows in the new sector. Furthermore, two telescopic boarding bridges were installed at gates 1 and 4, and air conditioning systems, LED lighting, restroom cores, and all internal signage were renovated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Future Vision: Technological Leap in 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The modernization does not conclude with the inaugurated project. DINAC announced that next February will see the incorporation of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Five e-gates (automated biometric control gates)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two body scanners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>New additional X-ray equipment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This project reinforces our commitment to a safe airport, prepared for the future,&#8221; stated Mendoza.
