Iberia <\/strong>has launched an extraordinary reinforcement of its operations between Madrid and Andalusia<\/strong>, with a 57% increase in available seats through next Sunday. This move is a direct response to persistent problems in rail transport. The airline has not only added flight frequencies but has also adjusted fleet capacity and commercial conditions to absorb the additional demand generated by this disruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immediate Operational Boost for Seville and Malaga<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From today, Tuesday, through Sunday, Iberia has scheduled an additional daily flight in each direction between Madrid and Seville. This measure is complemented by an extra daily flight between Madrid and Malaga, operational from today through Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reinforcement is not limited to more takeoffs. On the Madrid-Seville route, the company has decided to replace the Airbus A320 with the A321, a larger-capacity aircraft, maximizing supply without needing to further increase the number of flights. This decision reflects tactical use of the fleet to address a temporary situation while maintaining operational efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2192 Iberia Receives Its Seventh Airbus A321XLR<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result of this deployment, Iberia will offer 6,316 additional seats, reaching a total of 17,340 available seats on the affected routes through Sunday. The 57% capacity increase is significant even for a high-density domestic market like Andalusia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fare Control: Maximum Price of 99 Euros per Segment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Parallel to the capacity reinforcement, the airline has implemented a measure uncommon in high-demand contexts: capping the maximum ticket price. The cost per segment in economy class is now capped at 99 euros, a substantial reduction from the 150-euro limit set the previous day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This fare cap will be in effect, at minimum, until Monday, February 2nd. It aims to prevent price pressures in a scenario where many passengers lack viable rail alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commercial Flexibility for Connecting Passengers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Iberia has also activated a ticket flexibility policy for passengers traveling from Andalusia to Madrid to connect with the airline’s flights. Those customers experiencing difficulties traveling normally due to the rail situation may request date changes or a refund voucher. This is a key measure to protect connecting traffic and minimize the impact on the passenger experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline has publicly reiterated its condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wished a swift recovery to those injured in the train accident that occurred last Sunday in Adamuz (C\u00f3rdoba). This incident is the origin of the disruption that has forced this exceptional operational deployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
