Greek flag carrier Aegean Airlines<\/strong> has decided to cancel its plans to incorporate two Airbus A321XLR<\/strong> aircraft due to significant delivery delays, as reported by Flight Global<\/em>. This strategic shift involves a one-year postponement of its route launches to India<\/strong>, as the company opts to standardize its long-range sub-fleet with the Airbus A321LR<\/strong> model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Impact of Certification Delays<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Originally, Aegean Airlines expected to receive two A321XLR units between last December and January, aiming to accelerate its entry into distant markets during the summer season. However, issues related to seat certification<\/strong> pushed the delivery date back by seven to eight months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the airline’s chairman, Eftichios Vassilakis<\/strong>, receiving these aircraft toward the end of summer or in autumn rendered them “redundant” for their initial purpose of bolstering capacity during the peak season.
