A group of airlines, spearheaded by Frontier Airlines and Avelo Airlines, has based its petition on fuel expenditure projections for the remainder of 2026. The industry estimates that jet fuel prices will remain, on average, above $4 per gallon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This situation is particularly severe in the United States because domestic carriers typically do not engage in fuel hedging.
