Iberia<\/strong> has announced a temporary expansion of its international capacity by adding new frequencies on its routes from Madrid to Tokyo and Panama City<\/strong> during the peak summer season. This strategy aims to respond directly to dynamic global tourism demand and consolidate the airline’s connectivity with key markets in Asia and Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consolidation in Asia: Fourth Weekly Frequency to Tokyo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Spanish flag carrier will strengthen its connectivity with the Asian market by adding an extra frequency to the route linking Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Madrid-Barajas Airport and Tokyo. Previously, the company operated three weekly flights per leg; however, between August 7 and October 23, capacity will increase to four weekly flights with the addition of a new departure from the Spanish capital scheduled for Fridays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This 33% increase in route capacity will inject 9,000 additional seats over the coming months. With this deployment, Iberia projects offering a total of 125,000 annual seats on this connection\u2014a market it entered in 2024 and which has established itself as a fundamental strategic bridge between Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2192 Iberia Expands Mexico Footprint with Launch of Direct Madrid\u2013Monterrey Flights<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flights will continue to be operated by next-generation Airbus A350 aircraft, which feature a capacity of 348 passengers configured across three cabins: Business, Premium Economy, and Economy. To optimize the passenger experience, Iberia continues to tailor its inflight service for Japanese travelers, offering entertainment and menus in their native language, complemented by traditional culinary touches such as green tea, rice, and chopsticks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seasonal Expansion in Latin America: More Flights to Panama<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In parallel, the route between Madrid and Panama City will gain a new weekly frequency during August and September. This additional departure from the Madrid hub will operate on Mondays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seasonal boost will add 4,700 extra seats to the route, enabling Iberia to reach a total capacity of 96,800 seats throughout 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through these operational additions, Iberia is maximizing its utilization of the peak summer season, adapting its long-haul fleet resources to shore up its international presence while driving tourism growth and global economic exchange through its Madrid hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
