In a strategic move aimed at strengthening its international operations and consolidating its position in key regional markets, Air Transat <\/strong>has announced the transition of its non-stop service between Montreal-Trudeau and Dakar, Senegal<\/strong>, into a permanent, year-round operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally launched in June 2026 as a seasonal summer connection, this exclusive route will now remain on the active schedule continuously throughout the Winter 2026\u20132027 season. To support this transatlantic service, the carrier will deploy its widebody fleet flagship, the Airbus A330.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transatlantic Strategy: The Only Non-Stop Link to Sub-Saharan Africa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Montreal\u2013Dakar route holds the distinction of being the sole non-stop air link directly connecting Canada to Sub-Saharan Africa. Extending this route to a year-round service directly addresses sustained VFR (Visiting Friends and Relatives<\/em>) demand from the Senegalese diaspora residing in Quebec, as well as an increasing volume of travelers seeking direct access to West Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
