The tender, published on July 16, 2026, set September 28 of this year as the deadline for proposal submissions, carrying a baseline price of $208.75 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative carries a 30-month execution timeline starting from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed, followed by a 12-month maintenance period. The ten new contact gates, five new remote positions, the new apron, and the taxiway rehabilitation will provide an infrastructure fully prepared for the demands of coming years,&#8221; said Jose Ruiz Blanco, General Manager of Tocumen International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Comprehensive Airfield Modernization<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The second initiative, titled &#8220;Study, Design, Construction, and Maintenance for the Comprehensive Expansion, Adaptation, and Improvement of the Airfield,&#8221; involves an estimated outlay of $98 million. The project projects a 27-month execution period alongside a one-year maintenance window, focusing on interventions across runways, taxiways, and aprons to streamline air traffic flows and maximize operational safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Remote Stands in the North Sector<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A core element of the airfield project involves constructing eight remote positions located in the northern sector of Terminal 1 (T1), near the North Pier:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Code C Aircraft:<\/strong> Configured primarily to accommodate high-density single-aisle models such as the Boeing 737.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Code E Aircraft:<\/strong> Operational flexibility to handle widebody aircraft such as the Boeing 777, expanding overall parking capacity across the airport complex.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Operational Impact on the Connectivity Model<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the commissioning of the ten contact gates at T2 and the eight remote stands, Tocumen will reach a total of 84 aircraft positions, structured as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>64 passenger boarding bridges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>20 remote positions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This expansion responds directly to an operating model where transit passengers account for over three-quarters of overall traveler volume.
