Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer<\/strong> announced this Thursday a 4.5% adjustment of its workforce, corresponding to approximately 900 employees in Brazil, due to the impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic on the world economy and the cancellation of the company’s partnership with Boeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The goal is to ensure the sustainability and engineering capacity of Embraer,” the company said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the company explained, the pandemic particularly affected Embraer’s commercial aviation, which experienced a 75% reduction in aircraft deliveries during the first half of 2020 compared to the same period last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The situation worsened as a result of the duplication of structures associated with the spin-off of the company’s commercial aviation business in preparation for the frustrated partnership with Boeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Embraer has adopted a series of measures to preserve jobs, including reduction of working hours, leave, paid vacation and three voluntary layoff plans, which were taken up by 1,600 employees in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
