The airline indicated that due to the public’s continued skepticism about the safety of the aircraft, it will deploy other types of aircraft on the same routes that the Max will operate, in case customers have concerns about traveling on the plane.

“Nothing is more important to United than the safety of our customers and employees, so the airline’s Max aircraft fleet will not return to service until we have completed more than 1,000 hours of work on each aircraft, including FAA-required changes to flight software, additional pilot training, multiple test flights and meticulous technical analysis to ensure the aircraft is ready to fly,” the airline said.

United operated 18 Max before the flight ban and has another 166 aircraft ordered from Boeing.
