Libertad Salmerón is the pilot, before Volaris, who decided to record how two aircraft from the company she worked for were about to have an accident at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) in early May.

In the video, broadcast on networks, it is observed how an aircraft has to make a one-way maneuver in the air to avoid colliding with another, from the same airline, which was on the runway. Salmerón tells, in an audiovisual broadcast by the Trade Union Association of Aviator Pilots (ASPA), that she decided to record, with the prior authorization of the captain she was accompanying that night.

Aeroméxico will resume flights to Havana (Cuba) in October.

The video was later leaked and widely circulated on social networks. The pilot was sanctioned while the case was being reviewed, which gave rise to Volaris reducing its capacity at the AICM to redistribute it to other airports in the Valley of Mexico and for the authorities to decide to set up working groups to review the safety conditions under which operates the capital’s air port.

Salmerón had flying roles for just over a month after the incident, but was later fired.

“No one could tell me, it was more or less after a month, no one answered me and had no idea what was happening, a week passed, until they decided to end the employment contract with me, I don’t know the reason, I have no idea ”, assures Salmerón.

Aeroméxico will increase its flights to Madrid from Guadalajara and Monterrey.

After that, the ASPA and the College of Aviator Pilots of Mexico approached the pilot. José Alonso, Press Secretary of the Association, told El Financiero that Captain Salmerón is receiving initial training to be able to pilot the Aeroméxico Boeing 737, with whom she has a contract to work.

Asked about the reasons for integrating Salmerón into the Association through a contract with Aeroméxico, Alonso indicated that “the support and defense of all pilots” is part of the basic principles of the union.
