Berlin-Brandenburg airport canceled all its flights on Wednesday due to a 24-hour strike called by the Ver.di union to demand wage improvements for ground handling workers, the airport company and air safety.

“The reason for the strike are the parallel rounds of collective bargaining, for which a solution has not yet been found in any of the three sectors,” ver.di said in a statement.
The union said its members were asking for a raise of 500 euros ($544) a month.
The strike affected some 300 flights to and from the German capital.
