Air Europa pilots announce two-week strike
The pilots of Spanish airline Air Europa will go on strike between June 19 and July 2 following the breakdown of wage negotiations, the country’s main pilots’ union SEPLA announced late Thursday.
The pilots claim that the company has reneged on the pre-agreement reached on June 8 and has failed to meet their demands for pay and working conditions. Air Europa’s pay proposals for aviators were equivalent to those of a low-cost airline, the union said in the statement.

An Air Europa spokesman indicated that the company was open to further negotiations.
Spain obliges airlines and pilots to maintain a minimum number of flights during strikes, which means fewer restrictions compared to other countries.
