Delta earned US$2.572 million in the first nine months of the year

Delta Air Lines earned 2.572 billion dollars in the first nine months of the year, 425% more than the 489 million achieved in the same period of 2022, also achieving a revenue record for the third quarter.

The third quarter of the year the company earned 1.108 billion dollars, 59% more than the 695 million obtained between July and September 2022, the U.S. airline detailed Thursday.

“Our operational reliability continues to strengthen, thanks to our people, and I am pleased to recognize their extraordinary efforts with more than $1 billion accrued throughout the year for profit sharing,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian in a statement.

Bastian further noted that the company believes it will exceed its expectations of achieving 20% annual revenue growth over 2022 data, with pre-tax earnings of more than $5 billion, nearly double what it achieved last year.

Delta billed $43.825 billion in the first quarter, up 18% over the same period in 2022, of which $36.735 billion was from passenger travel, $535 million from cargo flights and $6.555 billion from other activities.

Likewise, in the third quarter alone, the airline’s operating revenues increased by 11% compared to 2022, to $15.488 billion.

The airline said in a statement that at the end of September its debt and capital lease obligations stood at $20.2 billion, after having paid $3.7 billion during the first three quarters of the year.

Its flight capacity in the third quarter stood at 88%, one percentage point above the data for the same period in 2022.
