American Airlines is enhancing its winter 2025-2026 route network with a mix of snowy landscapes, outdoor adventures, and sunny getaways. From ski slopes in Idaho to beaches in Mexico, the airline is bolstering its offerings to become the go-to choice for travelers seeking unique experiences during the coldest months of the year.
New Routes to Winter Paradise
Starting December 18, American Airlines will launch flights to Sun Valley, Idaho, from Chicago and Phoenix. This popular winter sports destination will be connected to over 150 cities across the U.S. via these routes, which will operate with dual-class aircraft, allowing passengers to opt for a premium cabin for added comfort.
Another winter debut is a new route between Charlotte and Aspen, Colorado—a strategic move that solidifies American as the airline with the best connectivity to ASE from across the country. Additionally, Missoula, Montana, will gain its first seasonal winter connection to Chicago, further expanding American’s presence in mountainous states.
This winter, the airline will operate over 70 daily flights to top snow destinations, perfect for those dreaming of carving down the slopes on clear days and ending the day with hot cocoa by the fire.

Exploring the American West
Santa Fe, New Mexico, known as “The City Different,” will benefit from two new routes: from Chicago and Los Angeles. These connections complement existing services from Dallas-Fort Worth and Phoenix, making it easier to reach this historic city and the nearby Taos ski slopes.
Another new addition is Santa Maria, California, which will join American’s network starting October 15 with two daily flights from Phoenix. This coastal city offers visitors the chance to enjoy famous Santa Maria-style barbecue and wine-tasting trails. With this launch, American becomes the only global airline operating in Santa Maria, its 17th destination in California.
Beach, Sun, and International Escapes
For those who prefer warmth over cold, American has options too. This winter will feature new flights from Chicago to Honolulu, Dallas-Fort Worth to Kona, Los Angeles to Brisbane, Australia, and a record four daily flights between Miami and Buenos Aires.
Additionally, December will mark the launch of the airline’s first service to Puerto Escondido, Mexico, along with four new routes to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, further cementing its leadership as the airline with the most flights from the U.S. to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
During the peak season in November and December, a direct service between Phoenix and Fort Myers, Florida, will also be available—ideal for travelers looking to switch between snow and beach. This route will operate from November 20 to December 3 and December 18 to January 6, using a Boeing 737.
