In 2025, the Dominican airline Arajet recorded growth exceeding 100% in passenger transport between Argentina and the Dominican Republic. This surge not only redefines its position within the Argentine market but also reinforces its strategic ambition to transform the Caribbean nation into a benchmark aviation hub for the Americas.

The data, backed by the Civil Aviation Board of the Dominican Republic, confirms an expansion that combines organic growth, increased connectivity, and a favorable macroeconomic context for bilateral tourism.

Over 113,000 Point-to-Point Passengers and 54,000 in Connection

During 2025, Arajet transported 113,271 passengers between Argentina and the Dominican Republic, a figure that represents a milestone for the company in this market. In addition to this volume, approximately 54,000 additional passengers utilized the airline’s network to connect from Buenos Aires to other destinations across the American continent.

In practical terms, this means that nearly 167,000 Argentine passengers used Arajet’s operational structure to travel either to the Dominican Republic or beyond, leveraging the connectivity model the company has been developing from its Caribbean base.

This growth of over 100% compared to 2024 did not occur in isolation. It is part of a record-breaking year for the airline, which reached nearly 1.5 million passengers across its entire network in 2025—a 37% year-over-year increase.

Argentina: Third Largest Source Market for the Dominican Republic

Arajet’s progress coincides with a broader phenomenon: the strong growth of Argentine tourism to the Dominican Republic. According to the Dominican Ministry of Tourism:

  • 442,088 Argentines traveled to the Caribbean destination in 2025.
  • This is a significant increase from the 272,450 recorded in 2024.
  • This represents a 62% year-over-year increase.
  • The trend remains active, with growth of nearly 10% year-over-year recorded in January alone.

This momentum has consolidated Argentina as the third most important source market for the Dominican Republic, trailing only the United States and Canada.

Corporate Strategy: Argentina as a Key Market

Arajet’s Chief Communications Officer, Manuel Luna, was explicit regarding the South American country’s strategic role:

“Argentina has become a key market for Arajet. This growth reflects passenger confidence and the positive impact our operation is having on connectivity between both countries, as well as the strengthening of tourism toward the Dominican Republic”.

2026 Expansion: Mendoza and Rosario Join the Network

The growth does not stop in 2025. As part of its expansion in the Argentine market, Arajet announced the inauguration of new routes for 2026:

  • Mendoza – Punta Cana: Three weekly frequencies, starting in May.
  • Rosario – Punta Cana: Three weekly frequencies, starting in June.

These new operations will complement the routes currently active from Buenos Aires and Cordoba, significantly expanding the company’s reach into the Argentine interior.

Beyond specific figures, the strategic message is clear. Arajet reaffirms its vision to position the Dominican Republic as the “New Aviation Hub of the American Continent,” broadening connectivity between Argentina, the Caribbean, and the rest of the Americas. Arajet not only doubled its presence between Argentina and the Dominican Republic in a single year; it also made it clear that the Southern Cone is a central piece of its continental growth strategy.
