LATAM Airlines Brasil has announced a major reconfiguration of its international flight network in Brazil’s Northeast region for the 2026/2027 Southern Hemisphere summer season. The airline’s strategy will focus on significantly boosting connectivity with Europe and Argentina, tailoring its capacity toward markets with the highest dynamism and tourism demand.

Commitment to the European Market and Network Optimization in Fortaleza

Starting in October 2026, the route between Fortaleza and Lisbon will increase its frequency from three to four weekly flights. Subsequently, during the peak season spanning from November 2026 to March 2027, the connection will reach five weekly flights, operating on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This frequency boost comes in response to notable demand growth between the Brazilian Northeast and Europe, with the possibility of being extended beyond March 2027.

To facilitate this concentration of capacity in high-growth markets, LATAM will optimize its international network. As a result of this strategic adjustment, the Fortaleza–Santiago and Fortaleza–Miami routes will suspended for scheduled travel starting in October 2026.

This strong push into the European continent coincides with an excellent period for inbound tourism in Brazil. According to data from Embratur, the influx of European visitors grew by 20% in 2025, recording its best performance since 2014. With five weekly flights to Lisbon, Fortaleza consolidates its role as an international hub, fed by a robust domestic network that connects directly with cities such as Belém, Brasília, Juazeiro do Norte, Manaus, Natal, Parnaíba, Recife, Rio de Janeiro/Galeão, Salvador, São Luís, São Paulo (Congonhas and Guarulhos), Teresina, and Belo Horizonte/Confins.

Southern Cone Offensive: New Seasonal Routes to Argentina

For the Southern Cone summer season, running between December 15, 2026, and February 28, 2027, LATAM will launch two new direct seasonal routes and boost existing frequencies to Buenos Aires/Ezeiza to capture the influx of Argentine tourists:

  • Natal – Buenos Aires/Ezeiza: The airline will operate three direct weekly frequencies (Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays). This milestone formally marks LATAM’s entry into the international market from Natal Airport.
  • Maceió – Buenos Aires/Ezeiza: This route will feature three non-stop weekly flights, scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
  • Recife – Buenos Aires/Ezeiza: This route will see a sharp capacity increase, growing from a single weekly frequency to four flights per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays).

This deployment addresses the strategic importance of the Argentine market. According to Embratur statistics, more than 3 million Argentine tourists visited Brazil in 2025, representing an 80% rebound compared to the previous year, highlighted by a 28% increase in air arrivals.

With this network adjustment, LATAM reaffirms its position as the leading airline in international connectivity in Brazil, operating direct flights to a total of 27 international destinations from the country.
