Access to the premises requires advance ticket purchase through the official online store (lufthansagrouphangar-one.com). Standard adult admission has been set at eight euros, with discounted rates and various ticket categories available on the web platform.
Opening Day Details
- Entry Requirements: Exclusive to visitors who have purchased tickets in advance via the digital platform.
- On-Site Activities: “Lucky Discounts” at the Worldshop store and photo opportunities with Lu, Lufthansa’s official mascot.
- Pilot Experience: An opportunity to take the controls in the flight simulator (subject to limited capacity).
- Exclusive Screening: A showing of the group’s anniversary documentary, titled “We are the Journey”. This production will subsequently be available starting September 1 on Lufthansa’s long-haul inflight entertainment (IFE) system.
Historical Exhibition and Interactive Innovation
Spanning over 6,000 square meters, the exhibition was developed in collaboration with specialized agency Atelier Brückner. The display offers a comprehensive journey through the company’s 100-year commercial and aviation history, covering its various airline brands, technical and logistics operations, and future operational outlook.
For the first time, previously unseen historical artifacts from the corporate archive are on public display. Additionally, the exhibition directly addresses the company’s darkest period, explicitly examining Lufthansa’s active role and legal responsibility during the National Socialist era.
To enhance the visitor experience:
- Interactive Audio Guide: Audio information accessible via QR codes using the visitor’s smartphone and headphones.
- Children’s Tour: A specially designed audio guide for younger audiences, featuring simplified, interactive language.
Historic Aircraft on Display
The centerpiece of the exhibition features two iconic aircraft marking pivotal milestones in the evolution of the commercial aviation industry:
- Junkers Ju 52 (Registration D-AQUI): Representing the pioneer years of Lufthansa’s first operational era. Its cabin door will open to the public exclusively during select events.
- Lockheed Super Star (Registration D-ALAN): A symbol of Lufthansa’s rebirth in the 1950s. Visitors are expected to gain access to interact inside its cabin by the end of this year.
Corporate Infrastructure and Event Spaces
Beyond the main exhibition area, the facilities have been configured to offer catering, retail, and event logistics services:
- Follow-Me Bar and Merchandising Shop: Venues dedicated to food, beverages, and exclusive retail items, including limited-edition collector’s items and themed merchandise centered around the Ju 52 and Super Star models. Both locations will remain open during regular operating hours.
- Meeting Lounges: A total of seven meeting rooms fully equipped for corporate or private events. By 2027, the company plans to offer exclusive rentals of the onboard bar inside the Lockheed Super Star for special events.
- Flight Simulator: Featuring the original cockpit of a Diamond DA42 trainer aircraft, engineered to provide an authentic flight experience.
The regular launch of the Lufthansa Group Hangar One consolidates a heritage preservation and brand projection project for the German aviation conglomerate. By combining museum-grade exhibits with premier meeting spaces and practical flight simulation at a major international hub like Frankfurt Airport, the venue positions itself as a prime meeting point for industry professionals, corporate clients, and commercial aviation enthusiasts alike.
