Reciprocally, American Airlines customers can connect via Frankfurt and Munich to Condor’s extensive network of destinations across Europe and beyond.

Passenger Operational Benefits

The interline agreement streamlines the passenger journey across both carriers by delivering core operational benefits:

  • Single-Ticket Booking: Ability to issue the entire multi-carrier itinerary under a single ticket.
  • Through Check-In: Unified check-in services for the entire journey.
  • Through-Checked Baggage: Direct baggage transfers to the final destination without the need to recheck luggage at intermediate transfer points.
  • Coordinated Connections: Streamlined, efficient transit times on both sides of the Atlantic.

“With American Airlines, we welcome a strong partner whose network perfectly complements our own and significantly enhances our connectivity in North America. This partnership strengthens our position in the transatlantic market while offering our customers even more travel options. Together, we continue to expand our international footprint and create compelling travel opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic.”
— David Carlisle, Vice President of Network Planning & Partnerships at Condor

“American’s new agreement with Condor underscores our commitment to connecting people with the places that matter most to them. Combining our extensive North American network with Condor’s footprint in Germany and Europe creates a winning proposition for our mutual customers. We look forward to working together to provide travelers with broader travel choices.”
— Jeff Ogar, Managing Director of Alliances at American Airlines

Strategic Role for Chicago Starting in 2027

A cornerstone of this network integration will be the resumption of Condor’s nonstop service between Frankfurt and Chicago starting in summer 2027.

The reactivation of this transatlantic route substantially enhances the partnership’s value, as Chicago O’Hare International Airport serves as one of American Airlines’ primary fortress hubs. This synergy, combined with existing operations in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles, will provide travelers seamless onward connectivity to hundreds of destinations across the United States and Canada.

Expansion of Condor’s Global Partnerships

The agreement with American Airlines marks another milestone in the German carrier’s global alliance strategy:

  • North American Footprint: This partnership complements Condor’s established interline agreement with Alaska Airlines, a relationship spanning more than a decade.
  • Global Network Growth: Condor also recently finalized a partnership with Qantas, extending customer reach into Australia and New Zealand.

Through these strategic additions, the carrier continues to reinforce its global airline partner network to deliver seamless international transit worldwide.
