Airlines and airports in Latin America and the Caribbean are asking to minimize traveler quarantines.
Airlines and airports in Latin America and the Caribbean have called on governments to coordinate their actions in response to Covid-19, so that air transport can resume its activity clearly and quickly, while urging them to minimize quarantine requirements for travelers.
These measures, according to the ALTA, ACI-LAC, and IATA organizations, would allow for an effective recovery in the aviation and tourism industry, while providing peace of mind to travelers and restoring mobility to citizens who want to travel for various reasons.
The impact of the current crisis is being devastating for the countries and their industries, so restoring public confidence in air travel “not only helps the viability of this sector that has been held back for more than five months, but has even broader benefits in the social and economic spheres of the countries,” the organizations have noted in a joint statement.
ALTA, ACI-LAC, and IATA, which represent the airports and airlines of the region, have implemented security measures throughout the industry.
“Now we need governments for their part to implement these recommendations quickly, because the world wants to travel again and needs the air transport industry to play a key role in economic recovery,” they said.
