Viva Air confirmed that in this first stage of operation it will start connecting the cities of Medellin and Bogota, between them, and from these capitals they will fly to Pereira, Montería, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Barranquilla, San Andrés and Cali, as defined by the Civil Aeronautics, in the reestablishment of the air operations for the airlines.

The confirmation was made to Caracol Radio, Francisco Lalinde, Vice President of Operations and people from Viva Air, who said “in the international market we have requested the route to Lima from Bogota and to Miami from Medellin”.

He said that these international routes are pending definition by the National Government and once “we have clarity about the date of restart, we will be communicating to our travelers.

Lalinde said that they are ready to fly and have been preparing for the resumption of the operation of flights throughout the quarantine and that is why Viva Air was the first airline in the country to have the Check In Certificate biosecurity seal, developed by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, granted by Icontec and supported by the World Tourism Organization.

He noted that this will ensure the safety of customers and workers within the organization.

Francisco Lalinde, Vice President of Operations and People of Viva Air, said that the operation of the airline will have a volume of 108 scheduled flights per week, but that volume corresponds to 12% of the flights that he made regularly before the pre-COVID season.

So far, it is known that in this first phase of flights there is a restriction of six operations per hour at Bogota’s El Dorado Airport and four hours in the rest of the country’s air terminals, to guarantee the biosecurity protocols and avoid conglomerations, both in the waiting room and at the airports.
