New version of Sukhoi Superjet 100 would be ready by 2023.

The office of the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov expects that the development of a new version of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) passenger plane will be completed in 2023, he told the Russian news agency TASS.

The development of the new Superjet is carried out by United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) according to the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation given on January 25, 2018 and aims to replace imports of foreign components – on-board systems and accessories – with Russian-made products.

After the completion of the development work on the aircraft, flight tests will begin.

Vedomosti informed that the development of the aircraft is expected to cost between 120 and 130 thousand million rubles (1.6 to 1.73 thousand million dollars), that amount also includes the creation of the Russian PD-8 engine, which will be installed in the aircraft and is being developed by the United Engine Corporation (UEC).

It is worth mentioning that both UAC and UEC are owned by the Russian Rostec.
