The airlines forecast a “very complicated” winter after a disastrous summer in which passenger traffic sank by 80%, said this Tuesday Javier Gándara, president of the Airline Association, an organization that groups about 80 airlines that fly in Spain.

“The airlines are in a situation of survival. We have managed to overcome the summer, but the prospects for this winter season and the end of the year are far from recovery,” said Gándara.
Airlines foresee a very complicated winter for the sector, which is why they are urging the Government to adopt an aid plan immediately, as this could lead to more drastic measures being taken at work to adapt to a very volatile environment.
“With such pessimistic data, it is necessary to urgently activate measures to support the sector so that we can face the winter season no longer with peace of mind, but with the certainty that all the actors are doing everything possible to refloat one of the strategic sectors for the Spanish economy,” said Javier Gándara.
