Airbus has delivered the 500th A320 Family aircraft from its Final Assembly Line in Asia (FALA) in the northern Chinese municipality of Tianjin, Airbus China announced on Thursday.

The aircraft, an A320neo, was delivered to China Southern Airlines, reported the Xinhua news agency.
George Xu, General Manager of Airbus China, said that the delivery marked a milestone in the cooperation and partnership between Airbus and the Chinese aviation industry.

The A320 FALA was commissioned in Tianjin in 2008 to meet the growing demand from Chinese customers, and delivered its first A320 aircraft in 2009. It is the third final assembly line of the A320 family in the world and the first outside Europe.
China is Airbus’ largest domestic market, accounting for approximately one-fifth of its global sales.
