This way, Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral complete the process started in May, which aims to provide efficiency to the company in its different areas, to achieve a positioning that allows it to face the market demands, to conform a more dynamic structure and to unify and integrate the processes to make them more agile.

From an operational point of view, this means the unification of areas such as maintenance, pilots and crews, thus eliminating existing duplicate structures. This will allow for greater efficiency and a considerable reduction in derived costs.
“This is a historic day for aviation in our country and for @Aerolineas_AR. We finished the merger process with Austral and from tomorrow our operations will be unified. A decision promoted by President @alferdez that ends in the term we had foreseen.
Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral had been synergized in 1990 and managed by Iberia. Then, in 2001 and on the verge of bankruptcy, they were sold to Grupo Marsans. In 2008 and with both companies in a deep crisis, the National Government regained state control of Aerolíneas – Austral. During the period 2008 – 2015, the company carried out its fleet renewal plan, built its flight simulator center, enabling the professional training of pilots within the country, built Hangar 5 (the largest in the region), joined the SkyTeam alliance and inaugurated new routes, interchanges and federal corridors.
