The Mexican airline Interjet could be fined by the Superintendence of Transportation of Colombia, for more than two hundred million pesos, if it does not comply with the orders that sought to validate the protection of consumer rights and ensure the continued provision of service by this airline, as indicated in Resolution No 9755 of November 2020.

Interjet will have 15 working days (from the day following the notification of the administrative act that sanctioned it), to prove compliance with the order or else it could be subject to the imposition of another fine, according to RCN radio.

“The entity issued these orders after receiving 64 complaints from citizens indicating the difficulty of contacting the company to inquire about their flights, itinerary changes, information on refunds and situations in general. Upon expiration of the term granted for compliance with each of the measures, the Transportation Superintendent proceeded to impose a fine,” explained Camilo Pabón, Transportation Superintendent.
“In case the airline fails to comply with the new term granted by the SuperTransport, it could be subject to a new fine of up to 500 legal monthly minimum wages in force ($450 million). Against the fine decision imposed on the airline there are appeals for reconsideration and appeal”, warned Pabón.
