WestJet cancels flight with 737 Max after warning light activated.
A WestJet airline Boeing 737 MAX scheduled to fly between Calgary and Toronto had to return to the gate just before takeoff after a warning light came on in the cockpit, the Canadian airline said Friday.

The Boeing 737 Max, which resumed operations in Canada on Wednesday, was scheduled to carry passengers on flight WS658.
“After a normal engine start, a surveillance system flagged a potential failure that required a check,” explained Lauren Stewart, a WestJet spokeswoman, AFP reported.

“It is a time-consuming operation and an engine restart, which we do not perform with passengers on board,” she added, indicating that the aircraft was therefore “returned to the gate.”
Return flight WS 665 from Toronto to Calgary was also cancelled.
“This was to be our third commercial flight with a Boeing 737 MAX” following the resumption of operations with this model, Stewart said.
The aircraft was then overhauled by maintenance crews and should resume operations as of Sunday.
