Argentina has decided to suspend regular flights from Brazil, Chile and Mexico starting this Saturday to prevent the entry of different strains of the coronavirus into the country, as it prepares for a second wave of contagions, official sources reported Thursday.

“Until further notice, scheduled flights from … Chile, Brazil and Mexico will be suspended,” the statement said. A similar policy is already in effect for flights from Britain.
This administrative decision emanates from the Chief of Cabinet, Santiago Cafiero, and increases the restrictions announced last March 13, in which there were already reductions in air frequencies with Brazil and Chile, among other countries.

There will also be more controls for Argentines and residents returning from abroad.
In addition to the coronavirus detection test to be taken before boarding to Argentina, there will be another test to be taken upon arrival in the country and another one seven days after re-entry, always at the passenger’s expense.
