Korean Air obtains approval two more countries for the acquisition of Asiana.
Korean Air Lines, South Korea’s leading airline, reported Monday that it won approval from two more countries for its planned acquisition of Asiana Airlines.
The airline received approval from Thailand and the Philippines, following approval by Turkey in February, for its merger plan valued at 1.8 billion won ($1.6 billion), Yonhap news agency reported.
“We are now waiting for approval from countries such as the United States, the European Union, South Korea, Japan, China and Vietnam,” a spokeswoman for the airline said.
Korean Air said in March that it expects to complete the purchase of Asiana Airlines in 2022 and fully merge in 2024.
