Alitalia, in bankruptcy proceedings since May 2017, has been forced to cancel 138 flights to or from Italy scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, due to the 24-hour air transport strike.
But in addition, it has suspended this Monday five domestic connections, as reported on its website, EFE reported.

The Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti and Ugl Transport Aereo unions announced at the end of June that they were calling on the staff of “Alitalia, Air Italy, Ernest, Blue Panorama, Air Dolomiti, Norwegian, all foreign airlines based and employed in Italy, such as Emirates, airport management, ground handling and catering companies and all seasonal and precarious workers in the sector” to join the strike.
The intention is to protest against layoffs and cutbacks, and to call for a permanent dialogue table between the sector’s social agents and the government.
As usual in these cases, Alitalia has published the list of cancelled flights on its website and has asked travelers to inquire about the status of their journey before going to the airport, however, the other airlines have not provided this information to the public at large and have chosen to notify those affected directly.
But the strike has also affected other airlines and the official website of Rome Airports, the management company of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino, already reports that there will be no KLM flight from Amsterdam and another Air France flight from Paris, both bound for Fiumicino.
