Virgin Atlantic announced Wednesday that it will launch direct flights from Edinburgh to Barbados and Orlando, marking the first time the airline has operated international flights from the Scottish capital in its 37-year history.
Flights to Barbados, which will be the only direct service between Scotland and the Caribbean, will begin on December 5. Flights to Orlando will begin on March 30, 2022. Both routes will operate twice weekly on Airbus A330 aircraft.

The new routes offer travelers from Scotland the chance to vacation in the Caribbean, with onward connections from Barbados to Grenada, St. Vincent and Tobago on Virgin Atlantic’s connecting flights and its interline partner Caribbean Airlines.
“Our two new routes offer a wide variety of vacation options to suit all tastes – from the family fun and theme park thrills of Orlando to the stunning beaches and relaxed atmosphere of Barbados, we are sure there is something to please all our Scottish customers,” commented Juha Jarvinen, Virgin Atlantic’s chief commercial officer.
