As part of an articulated effort between the public and private sectors to reactivate the tourism sector in Panama, Copa Airlines presented a series of initiatives, including special incentives and discounted fares on airline tickets. These fare initiatives seek to create synergies to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the advancement of the vaccination program in Panama, the relaxation of entry requirements and the gradual recovery of air connectivity through the Hub of the Americas.
“The connectivity offered by Copa Airlines through the Hub of the Americas is a fundamental driver of economic development for Panama and the region, thanks to the fact that it promotes tourism, facilitates trade and increases productivity, so we do not hesitate to work with the authorities to promote and strongly support the revival of the tourism sector, as part of our historical commitment to the development of Panama,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.
In conjunction with the Tourism Promotion Fund (PROMTUR PANAMA), Copa Airlines recently relaunched the Panama Stopover program, which offers an incentive for thousands of passengers who travel annually through the Hub of the Americas in Panama via any Copa Airlines flight, to include in their itinerary an extended stay in the country of up to 6 days and 7 nights, at no additional cost in airfare. This product is available in all countries in the airline’s network.
Another initiative promoted by Copa Airlines is Panama Irresistible, which offers airline tickets at reduced prices for travel to Panama from more than 30 destinations, including Los Angeles, Orlando, Chicago, Miami, Guadalajara, Barranquilla, Santo Domingo, Mexico City and Lima, among others. The special fares, which average a 35% discount on ticket prices.
Committed to generating well-being and contributing to the economic and social recovery of the region, Copa Airlines is supporting the innovative Vacutur Panama vaccination program for tourists, which is run by the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), the Ministry of the Presidency, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) and the Government Innovation Authority (AIG). On this occasion, the airline will offer reduced fares for wholesalers, travel agencies and the general public in order to provide accessible options to international tourists who are expected to participate in this initiative. In addition, it will invest in a campaign to promote this initiative throughout the continent.
In addition, together with the Panama Tourism Authority, the airline is joining Panama Black Week, through the promotion of reduced air fares to Panama between September 30 and October 10, to attract tourists to the country to enjoy the attractive shopping offers offered by more than 14 shopping malls nationwide.
Finally, with the aim of boosting tourism reactivation efforts in the country, Copa Airlines will support the National Chamber of Tourism (CAMTUR) as a sponsor of the first in-person tourism fair of 2021, Panama Travel Mart, offering airline tickets to participants. The event will bring together the country’s main tourism service providers with important buyers from Latin America and the United States.
With these and the continuous efforts to promote the country, Copa Airlines and the authorities of the tourism sector in Panama reaffirm their commitment to the reactivation of a sector that has been one of the most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and which is one of the main contributors to the economic well-being of the country.
