President of Interjet is arrested.
Mexico City’s Investigative Police (PDI) arrested on Thursday the current chairman of Interjet’s board of directors, Alejandro del Valle, for alleged fraud in the midst of the airline’s crisis, which has been out of business since last December.
“PDI agents served an arrest warrant in the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office for Alejandro “N” , for his probable participation in the commission of the crime of generic fraud,” the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office reported on its official channels, reported EFE.

The Prosecutor’s Office promised more information shortly, but images of witnesses who witnessed his arrest at the Club de Industriales, in the wealthy Polanco neighborhood, at around 10:00 a.m. are circulating on social networks.
“He is presumed innocent and will be treated as such in all procedural stages,” the autonomous body assured as it shared an image of the detainee with his eyes covered.
Last December, Interjet’s General Shareholders’ Meeting appointed Del Valle as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors, thus displacing Miguel Alemán Magnani, the airline’s founder, now a fugitive from justice.
The situation of Interjet, which has been out of business since 2021 and is facing a strike, has been controversial since last year, when the association Mexicans Against Corruption and Impunity (MCCI) reported that it owed more than 3 billion pesos (about US$150 million) to the federal government.
