Spanish airline Iberia continues with its goal of stimulating travel as a way to boost economic activity, betting on the recovery of flights. Although it has already presented an optimistic flight schedule for this winter season, with increases in short, medium and long-haul flights, and the reintroduction of new destinations such as the Maldives and Cali in Colombia, it is already immersed in the preparation of its summer schedule, where there will also be significant increases in several destinations in its long-haul network, in addition to the recovery of the route to San Francisco and the opening of Dallas and Washington.

Offensive in Latin America

Latin America is undoubtedly one of the airline’s most important markets, and for the summer season in Europe it has designed a schedule with more flights to its main markets.

Iberia schedules flights to 17 Latin American cities this winter.

Mexico will experience one of the most notable increases, with five more frequencies per week, and from April to October it will have 19 weekly flights in each direction.

Colombia is one of the countries that has recently lifted restrictions on flying from Spain. And so, from February 2022, Iberia will have two daily flights between Madrid and Bogota, exceeding the capacity it offered before the pandemic. In addition, on December 2, Iberia will restart flights to Cali, a route it recovered this summer and will operate again throughout the winter season.

Flights to Argentina will also increase, with up to four additional weekly frequencies, depending on the month. From April to July Iberia has scheduled 12 weekly flights between Madrid and Buenos Aires, which will increase to 14 during the month of August, and to 13 in September and October.

More flights and destinations in the United States

The United States is one of Iberia’s key markets. Even before the announcement of the lifting of restrictions on tourist travel, Iberia designed a program for the winter season with flights to all the destinations it flew to before the pandemic. And for the summer season it has scheduled not only more flights, but also new destinations.

Iberia will offer 13 weekly flights to Dominican Republic starting in November.

In the summer of 2022, New York will have 14 weekly frequencies, four more than now. And there will also be two daily flights with Miami, four more frequencies than this winter.

From March to October, Chicago will also grow from five to seven flights a week, Boston will increase from three to six weekly frequencies, which will reach daily flights in August and October, and Los Angeles will increase flights from three to five weekly frequencies, which will reach six in August.

The offer will be completed, starting in April, with two new destinations -Dallas and Washington- and the recovery of San Francisco. Dallas and Washington will have four weekly frequencies and San Francisco, three.

San Juan de Puerto Rico is also part of the joint business agreement for routes between Europe and the North Atlantic that Iberia has with American Airlines, British Airways and Finnair. From April to August, Iberia will offer five weekly flights between Madrid and San Juan, one more than at present.
