The White House advisor for Latin America, Juan González, stated that one of the purposes of the meeting of US officials with the government of Nicolás Maduro was to propose the resumption of direct commercial flights between the United States and Venezuela. In an interview made on March 10, 2022 to Actualidad Radio, he confirmed that he was one of the members of the delegation that went to Caracas for the meeting, reported El Diario.

“We see that the future of Venezuela can only be determined by Venezuelans on the basis of negotiations. The international community and the United States have made it clear that we are willing to ease the pressure on the regime based on concrete steps,” Gonzalez said.
